A Beautiful Poem for Parents Raising Children

Don't tell me that I can't, or I won't.
Always tell me to try, and I will.
Teach me to smile when I am sad.
Teach me to talk when I am mad.
Teach me to soar and teach me to fly.
Answer my questions when I ask why.
Teach me that failures are successes not tried.
Teach me to open my arms up wide.
Teach me to love and to laugh and to live.
Teach me to work and to share and to give.
Teach me so that I become all I can be.
Then stand back and be proud of me.

BestKnittingAndSewing.com

Before reading an article that talks about how sewing can actually be therapeutic I wouldn't have put sewing and therapy into the same sentence.  Now that I have read more about it, I totally see how it is for many people.  For me, sewing never turns out right.  Just yesterday, I tacked a flower back onto a shirt of mine and before the day was over, it fell off again.  Sewing has not really been my thing but I will continue to try....lol.  A website called 'Best Knitting and Sewing.com' has some great information for those who enjoy the art of sewing.

Soccer....The FIFA Cup

My husband and oldest son have been addicted to watching the FIFA World Cup Soccer tournament that has been going on for the past couple of weeks.  Today was the final match and they were rooting for the Netherland team to win because we have twin brothers that go to our church that are actually from there.  I was not interested in this sport at all and I really could have card less as to who won but now that it is over I am just happy that a new country won this year.  This is the first year that a team who hasn't won before took the title.  Don't quote me on this but if I remember what Frank told me there have only been six teams to ever win the FIFA World Cup.

Don't get me wrong because I really enjoy watching most sports, soccer just isn't one of them.  I will watch football all day long.  I absolutely cannot wait for this upcoming NFL season.  I am curious to see how well our Steelers are going to do with all the legal things going on with our quarterback.

Taco Bell

Well, today was the last day to use the FREE drink coupons that Taco Bell put out in the newspaper a little over a month ago.  We ended up with several of these sheets of coupons and used some more today.  The coupons were for FREE margarita frozen slush drinks or limeade drinks.  I am crazy over the cherry limeade drinks, they are absolutely delicious and the funny thing is that I am the only one in our family who likes them.  The rest of our family likes the frozen strawberry margarita and mango strawberry margarita drinks which I like too, just not as much.  I asked the cashier the other day how they are made and he told me that all they use to make them are sierra mist with a shot of cherry syrup or juice.  Now that I know how they are made, I have been searching for cherry juice but the only thing I have been able to find is cherry flavored grenadine that is used for making shirley temples.  I finally found it today and fogot to buy the Sierra Mist.

BestOfAmericanIdol.com

Once each season of American Idol is over, many people often wonder what some of the contestants are up to, including myself.  I recently saw on the front page of Yahoo that some of the summer shows with this past season's contestants have been canceled due to decline in ticket sales.  Do you think this was people didn't care for the contestants this year or the economy???  I was also browsing around on a site called 'Best of American Idol.com' and was able to catch up on many of past contestants of American Idol including Fantasia and her life.

Shoes

Our youngest son, Nathaniel is almost five years old and for the past couple of weeks, he has been wanting to learn how to tie his shoes.  The shoes he has right now are the kind that stretch so that your foot fits into it.  We promised him that when Grandma Donna comes to visit next week, she will teach him to tie his shoes.  As it has turned out, she has been the one to teach the first 8 grandkids to tie their shoes and only has two more to go, Nathaniel and Isabella.  If she wasn't planning to come in only a little over a week, I don't know if I would be able to hold him off and after the past hour, I don't know if he will wait or not.  Right now, Christian is trying to teach him how to tie them but I can tell they are both getting rather frustrated.  I have to admit though that it is so cute watching them together.  Uh oh, he just walked away and now Isaac is going to attempt teaching him.  They both keep telling him that Grandma is going to teach you Nate but he REALLY wants to learn.  We were shopping at Walmart today and he picked out a pair of tie shoes so that Grandma could teach him but his anxiousness is getting the best of him....hurry up Grandma Donna!!!!
